The Tithe Scam

By Monima Kalaotaji

In 2019, Benny Hinn came out and renounced his famous prosperity gospel teachings, the same gospel principle that has earned him 60 million dollars over the years. He was so good with televangelism that many of his colleagues call on him to raise money from their gullible followers and one of such colleague is our very own Chris Olekhilome.

This renouncement came just 2 months after his nephew, Costi Hinn, revealed in his new book: God, Greed, and the (Prosperity) Gospel: How Truth Overwhelms a Life Built on Lies, how his family exploited millions around the world with the prosperity gospel and often traded so-called miracles for money.

In 2018, Hinn admitted that as he has grown older and come to understand the Bible more, he realized that some of the things he learned from preachers when he was growing up aren’t biblical, including the prosperity gospel. So after amassing so much wealth over the years, draining these gullible people of their hard earned money, this is what he has to say:

“I think it’s an offense to the Lord, it’s an offense to say give $1,000. I think it’s an offense to the Holy Spirit to place a price on the Gospel. I’m done with it. I will never again ask you to give $1,000 or whatever amount, because I think the Holy Ghost is just fed up with it.”

So, this holy ghost who is also god, who’s supposed to be omniscient finally got tired of receiving money obtained by false teachings. Meditate on that. Take all the time you need to process that. And now, Creflo Dollar who is worth 27 million dollars, after collecting enough dollars of people’s tithes, offerings etc have rolled in, has this to say on Rhema TV:

“I use to preach that if you don’t pay your tithes you are cursed until God changed my thinking” !

“God can not curse those he has blessed. So paying your tithe or not, trying to please God or not does not bring any curse.
Why?
God can not curse those he has blessed. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law by Becoming the curse for us.. So that the Blessings of Abraham might come on us who believe.
So let no man tell you those lies that you are cursed or can be cursed. You cant curse who God has blessed”

Meanwhile, in one poverty stricken part of the world where god is different from the one in the U.S, one of god’s financial rep or revenue collector, second most richest pastor in the world and a lab coat wearing charlatan sent this message.

“Tithing is an inescapable covenant obligation. Prosperity not just wealth is impossible without tithing because when you are not paying tithe, you’re under a financial curse.

In the Bible, Jesus never owned any property, didn’t rent a house, he was living in the houses of different people, in the wilderness etc, had to even borrow a ride to paint a town red, yet these guys took this fairytale, turned it upside down and made it a multi million dollar industry while leaving their followers brain-dead, poorer and docile.

Gradually, these charlatans are coming out, they’re not returning their Ill gotten loot though, but at least they’re coming out, I doubt if their Nigerian colleagues will follow suit though, they are as greedy as their “brothers in crime” , Nigerian politicians, if Jesus tarries, won’t it be nice to see Oledepo or Olekhilome come out to say tithes, offerings, seeds etc are all lies??? I

If wishes were horses though.

I am also waiting for the day, when their Nigerian counterparts will also come out with the truth. Their own penchant for robbing the poor is legendary.

Even though I am a church person, I stopped tithing since 2018. Church leaders. Whenever someone is threatening you to part with your money, it shouldn’t be rocket science to know that something is not adding up.

Well said sir, I’m looking forward to that day when Nigeria pastors will stop exploiting the country.

Until then will the right development come for the country.

This is an eye opening article, especially for a family member of Benny Hinn to come out and say this.

I think I heard that Creflo Dollar also renounced this “COLLECTING OF TAX FOR CHRIST” scheme.
