Yesterday, many watched in disbelief, as news floated everywhere from TV stations to newspapers, and on social media, the disheartening news that the Rivers state house of assembly, a heavily guarded fortress was burnt, no doubt by state sponsored actors.
Then, the Governor of rivers state, Mr. Sim Fubara, a notorious simp was fired upon with tear gas and water cannons by the police, amidst shouts from DSS protective agents “He’s the governor.”
Then, two videos almost simultaneously surfaced on my timeline. On the first, Fubara claimed he was ready to die fighting for Rivers people, “somebody must die one day”, his actual words. In the other video, he was addressing a group of his fanatical supporters, asking what he did to deserve impeachment.
To further cap this cinematic display, thousands of youths marched on into the streets of Port Harcourt, protesting was they called the evil caress of the simp’s predecessor, Nyesom Wike. As usual, many Nigerians took sides, some saying the Simp should have honored the agreement he had with his Wiked master Nyesom Wike, no matter how suffocating they were. Others simply trended let the simp breathe, and “Rivers nor be Lagos”.
I watched in amusement, for the people who would be civilians caught up in the battle for supremacy of the wiked and the simp. I consider myself to be politically active and socially conscious. In 2023, I wholeheartedly supported Peter Obi’s presidential ambition, and was a very vocal #ENDSARS activist. Before that though, we helped Godwin Obaseki fight against his godfather, Oshiomhole, saying Edo nor be Lagos. Today, that is one of my biggest regrets. I will come back to this.
On Arise News, Chetam Thierry Nwala claimed that Nyesom Wike demanded 25% of Rivers state’s allocation, this is apart from appointing almost all the commissioners and special advisers. He then moved to commend Sim Fubara’s attempt to break away from Wike’s vicious lock.
Today, Sim Fubara secured a court order, to stay the legislature from impeaching him, and people are celebrating as if the news has any importance or benefits to them. Fubara connived with Nyesom Wike in a bloody election where contenders where hunted and maimed, where voters were intimidated and forcefully disenfranchised and I am supposed to feel happy or sad for him.
Fubara crying about wanting to die is his own cup of tea. If he dies, he dies for nothing, as a sadistic villain, after all, was he not enthroned by the use of threats and actual violence?
I understand the emotions though, a governor should be too big to be under anybody’s pocket. However, it is equally terrible to have a governor who is destroying democracy. Nobody can beat their chest to say the River state elections was free and fair, and nobody can deny that Wike and Fubara orchestrated or at least benefitted from them. Obviously, these sadists are merely fighting for their own bellies, at the expense of innocent vulnerable Nigerians.
Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki of Edo had the same story of a godson being oppressed by a godfather. In 2020, we all marched for him. Many risked their lives to ensure he was voted in. Nonetheless, in 2023, he orchestrated the molestation and disenfranchisement of voters, particular at the local government elections.
For a man who was massively voted in by the good people of Edo state to return that favor with wickedness, it showed that he is no better that his predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole, an equally notorious thug and election violence enabler. He was even caught on tape, asking his hounds to oppress and abuse Obidients.
Sim Fubara will be no different from his wicked boss, and the best thing for Nigerians to do is watch and allow their enemies destroy themselves. None of them actually care about them, and although there would be a winner in this fight, it will not be the masses.
