In February 2020, I sat with my aunt, who lives in Okene, to discuss Nigerian politics. She came to Benin City for my brother’s wedding, and I took the opportunity to pick her brains on northern Nigerian politics as she is a very active grassroots politician. She spoke of several things, events, and people, including a woman she described as very formidable, even though she lost the senatorial elections the year before. Yesterday, the Nigerian Senate handed her a six-month suspension following accusations and a lawsuit against the Senate President for sexual harassment. That woman is Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Here are my thoughts on the matter:
- Nigerian politics is ridiculously crude, and Nigerian politicians are the worse form of scum. Sitting in that chamber is Adams Oshiomhole, a man caught on camera asking criminal elements to intimidate Obidients in the run-up to the 2023 general elections. Today, the same man pontificates and prances about in the senate yapping about any and everything, as if he cares about the Nigerian people. In the same senates sits men and women who have contributed nothing beneficial to the Nigerian society, except to swallow humongous salaries and oppress their constituents if needs be. Our senate is made up of despicable power-hungry prebendal trolls and troglodytes who would do anything to grab or remain in power, even at the detriment of the vulnerable masses.
- Poverty and illiteracy are weaponized in Nigeria. This is not news, but the reality that this can be publicly demonstrated in 2025 shows we are still many light years away from development. Natasha’s accusation should not be taken lightly, but we have seen people whose brains have been ravaged by poverty that like zombies, they can be directed to protest against a senator whose only crime is saying another senator wants to “chop her work”. One of the brain-dead morons even implied on film that Natasha should have acquiesced to Godswill Akpabio and submitted her “Toto” to him for frequent perusal. Only a shameless crude dolt can say this publicly, and it is a shame to Mr Akpabio that his supporters are scum.
- It is a shame that the senate has neither trended for fighting Bulaba for any of his draconian policies nor for his profligacy and obvious lack of character. The Senate itself has unravelled to be a group of licentious juvenile adults greedily fighting over and gazumping each other and the rest of the nation for who gets the largest share of the national cake. Recall they fought Shehu Sani for revealing a senator’s salary.
- The fighting in the Senate does not concern me. If Godswill Akpabio beheads Adams Oshiomhole on the floor of the Senate tomorrow, I will not bat an eyelid. Our rulers have turned us against ourselves for too long for me to be concerned about them, or what harm to do to themselves. Our schools, roads, and hospitals are all in a pitiable state, so, understandably, I do not feel sorry for Natasha and the other fools in the Senate.
- While I do not feel sorry for Natasha and the other fools in the senate, I do pity the average Nigerian girl child. Our society is full of rapists, rape enablers, and others who would spin tales to defend their religious, political and traditional rulers when grave accusations are made against them. You can see some of these potential rapists and their enablers speaking without fear on social media.
- The majority of Nigerian Politicians are traitors.
